AI assistants (MCP)
Ask Claude, ChatGPT or any assistant that speaks MCP for a sign-up sheet, and it hands you one to check and publish.
Connect it
The connector address is https://im-in.events/api/mcp. It uses Streamable HTTP and needs no sign-in. In your assistant's connector settings, add a custom connector with that address. It is also listed in the official MCP Registry as events.im-in/sign-up-sheets.
What it can do
- Draft a sign-up sheet from your words (
draft_sheet_link): returns a link that opens im-in.events with your words in Describe it. Press Make my draft, check the sheet, then publish. Nothing is created until you press it. - List sign-up sheet templates (
list_templates): potluck, meal train, volunteer shifts and the rest, with their lines. - Create a live sign-up sheet (
create_signup_sheet): publishes a sheet with a title, lines and time zone, and emails the owner a private link to claim and edit it. It needs the owner's real email, so your assistant asks before it runs.
Try asking
- “Make a sign-up sheet for our bake sale Saturday 9 to 1: 6 bakers and 2 cashiers.”
- “Here's the email I was going to send the soccer parents. Turn it into a snack sign-up.”
- “What I'm In! templates are there for a meal train?”
- “Publish a volunteer sheet for the food drive with 4 shifts and send the link to me at my email.”
What it sends us
Only what your assistant passes to a tool: your words for a draft link, or the sheet's title, lines, time zone and the owner's email for a live sheet. Sheets made this way are kept like any other; see the privacy policy.
Limits
Draft links have no limit. Live sheets: one a day per owner email, and 100 a day across all assistants. Past either, your assistant gets a draft link to hand you instead.
